Marlands Shopping Centre Christmas Grotto

The result
We created a traditional log cabin Christmas grotto which was a huge hit with the centre and the shoppers. As a result lots of families shared the magic and fun of meeting Father Christmas.
The brief
We were asked to design and build a Christmas grotto which would be the centrepiece of the shopping centre's Christmas display for two seasons. The grotto would have to have the WOW factor and draw families into the centre, and be functional with adequate space inside for the magical moment of meeting Father Christmas.
The solution
We initially created a few different 3D designs for the cabin and settled on a traditional log cabin design.
We were limited to a specific sized promo area at the hopping centre and so built a 4m x 4m log cabin. The construction design was modular so that it could be stored efficiently throughout the year. The walls were made from vacform log effect which significantly reduced the weight while maintaining an authentic look.
We dressed all the external area with far snow, pine tress, winter props and reindeer to further reinforce the theme and appeal to the children and adults alike.
