Solent Graduate Fashion Show 2017

Spark Building, Southampton
The result
We installed a 51 foot x 26 foot catwalk finished with white vinyl flooring and black trim. A mixture of 4 foot and 6 foot wide walkways allowed multiple models to walk whilst also allowing enough space for all the chairs. We created a entranceway to the catwalk which seamlessly linked the catwalk to the building, along with two bespoke timber clad lighting towers.
The brief
We were again approached by the student led events team to assist with their graduate fashion show. They had come up with a couple of concepts and asked us to make them work in the venue.
They wanted a wine glass shaped catwalk which would allow room for multiple models to be walking at once and give plenty of turning and posing points. We were also asked to provide the lighting for the show, there are only a few adequate lighting positions in the venue and so we were asked to come up with a solution.
The solution
We installed a 51 foot x 26 foot catwalk using 4 foot and 6 foot walkways to allow multiple models to walk whilst also allowing enough space for all the chairs. We also created a entranceway to the catwalk with some white leather grain flats, which were made to fit flush with the building to create a seamless look.
We dressed the catwalk with white vinyl flooring, black timber valance and black angle trim to create a smart, contemporary finish.
For the lighting solution we made some bespoke timber towers which when used alongside quad truss and a quad x-base allows for a 5m lighting tower to be placed almost anywhere in the venue. The towers are self-supporting and can have up to 6 moving light fittings rigged to them. The towers were painted white and looked like they were part of the building, adding a needed touch of lighting to the catwalk without blocking any sightlines or ugly lighting stands to the finish.
